Smart Publisher Schedules Now Survive Phone Restarts and App Updates

A scheduled reminder should not disappear because a phone restarted or an app was updated. Testing the real Google Play bundle showed that this could happen in Smart Publisher Android—and gave us the chance to fix it before a public release.

What changed

Smart Publisher Android now restores and re-arms pending reminders after the phone restarts or the app is updated. If a scheduled time passes while the phone is off, the app can recover the overdue reminder after the device comes back.

The goal is simple: when a user prepares a post for later, the reminder should still be waiting when the device returns.

How we verified it

We tested the fix against the release package distributed through Google Play, not only a development build. The checks covered a future reminder, a real phone restart, an app update and a reminder deadline that passed while the device was off.

The Android product boundary remains the same. Smart Publisher prepares the post, keeps the schedule and opens the final Instagram sharing step. The user still decides whether to complete that last publish action.

This is why release-package testing matters: it can reveal reliability problems that a successful build alone cannot prove away.
